World energy consumption is projected to increase by 58 percent from 2001 to 2025, especially in the developing world like Bangladesh.

 

With the rapid liberalization and integration facing the world energy markets, this has become an invaluable service area. Doulah & Doulah has an integrated team focusing on a wide range of areas including corporate, finance, environmental, competition, regulatory, project finance and energy trading experts in the power, oil and gas sectors. Doulah & Doulah has worked in power projects for financing and procurement structure, acting for project sponsors, funders, contractors and other industry participants. It strive to improve its own performance constantly - as a business in its own right, the firm understands the need to provide demonstrable value in return for the cost of its services.

 

Doulah & Doulah offers market leading services in power generation and distribution projects and it has been involved in most of the country's Electricity producing power plants. At the moment the firm is working for Abener in three power plant projects in Bangladesh. The firm also advised POSCO in construction of thermal power plants in Bangladesh.

 

The firm has also been in involved in Construction of Ashuganj 150MW Combined Cycle Power Plant construction and Shikalbaha  200MW Combined Cycle (Duel Fuel)  Power Plant construction Projects.

 

The firm finalized a tripartite gas exploration arrangement among Chevron Bangladesh, Weatherford USA and Govt. of Bangladesh for Gas exploration in CharKajol Island at the northern part in Bangladesh for Weatherford. Weatherford is responsible for the exploration project in Bangladesh. The firm worked on the relevant SPV structure and all regulatory / public procurement requirements with respect to such exploration for the SPV.

 

The firm finalized the tax efficient SPV structure between Maxwell Bangladesh and Drilltech Germany for Drilltech. We also finalized the Jamuna Bridge – Bheramara Gas Transmission Project contract with Gas Transmission Company Ltd. (Petrobangla subsidiary under Govt. of Bangladesh) for the SPV

 

The firm worked for ABB Italy in its contract with Gas Transmission Company Ltd. (Petrobangla subsidiary under Govt. of Bangladesh) for the erection of a Turn-key gas compression station for Rashidpur Gas Field at Sylhet

 

The firm worked for Mitsui Japan in a potential Joint Venture Project with Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration Company Ltd. (Petrobangla subsidiary under Govt. of Bangladesh) for development of local gas fields in Bangladesh

 

The firm worked for Sapem S.p.A. in its North South Gas Pipeline Project with Petrobangla

 

           


 
 

 

Power Project SPV Structure & Project Finance: 

  • Baghabari Barge Mounted Power Plant, Client: Sabah Shipyard, Sabah Shipyard was the owner of the barge deployed for the power plant

  • Haripur Barge Mounted Power Plant, Client El Paso, El Paso was 50% stakeholder in the Project Company NEPC Ltd.

  • Khulna Power Plant, Client El Paso, El Paso was 30% stakeholder in the Project Company KPCL Ltd.

  • Mymensing Combined Cycle Power Plant, Client ABB Alstom, We assisted ABB Alstom in preliminary bidding processes, negotiations and issues under local public procurement rules and regulations

  • Worked for  AB Svensk Exportkredit (Swedish Export Credit Agency) in financing of Barapukuria 230/132 KV Sub-station under Barapukuria Coal Fired Power Project

  • Worked for  AB Svensk Exportkredit (Swedish Export Credit Agency) in financing of existing 132/33 Rangpur and Syedpur Sub-station expansion & reclamation project

  • Assisted KFW with respect to financing Northern Districts Transmission Line Project

  • Assisted ABB with respect to supply of equipments to a number of substations in Bangladesh

  • The firm worked for Grease Brothers Inc in setting up the first biofuel plant in Rangamati in joint-venture with Grameen Bank. Following the finalization of necessary negotiations and agreements.

M&A:

  • The firm worked for AES in its acquisition of large scale power assets in Bangladesh in 2010

  • The firm conducted the sales due diligence over all Covanta power assets in Bangladesh for Thompson Reuters

  • The firm worked in the sale of Haripur Barge Mounted power Plant stake of Globeleq to Pendaker

  • The firm worked for El Paso in its sale of United Summit Coastal Oil Ltd stake

  • The firm worked for Picnic Corporation in its acquisition of Summit Surma Petroleum Company

  • The firm worked for El Paso in its sale of United Summit Coastal Oil Ltd

  • The firm worked for El Paso in its sale of Khulna Barge Mounted Power Plant stake

  • The firm worked for El Paso in its sale of Coastal Petroleum

  • The firm worked for El Paso in its sale of New England Power Company Ltd. stake to Globeleq

Restructure:
